Port Overview
What is Port 15?
An early ARPANET protocol used to query network status information from a remote host. It predates modern network management protocols and was used in the original ARPANET era to retrieve connection tables. It is obsolete and no longer used in any modern system, though scanners may still probe it.
Security Considerations
Port 15 (NetStat) is classified as low risk. This service uses encryption or has a minimal attack surface, making it relatively safe to expose.
Recommendation: Standard security practices apply. Keep software updated and monitor access.
