Port Overview
What is Port 18081?
Default RPC (Remote Procedure Call) port for the Monero cryptocurrency daemon. Allows wallets and external applications to interact with the Monero node via JSON-RPC interface. Should be restricted to localhost unless intentionally exposed.
Security Considerations
Port 18081 (Monero RPC) is classified as high risk. This port is a common target for automated scanning and brute-force attacks. If you must expose it, restrict access to known IP addresses.
Recommendation: Use firewall rules to whitelist trusted IPs. Enable rate limiting and intrusion detection.
