Port Overview
What is Port 2000?
Port 2000 is used by Cisco's Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP), also known as Skinny, for VoIP telephony. Cisco IP phones connect to Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CallManager) on this port to register and receive call signaling. It is fundamental to Cisco's enterprise VoIP infrastructure.
Security Considerations
Port 2000 (Cisco SCCP) is classified as medium risk. While this service is commonly exposed, consider using encrypted alternatives where available.
Recommendation: Keep the service updated. Monitor logs for unusual activity.
