TCP — Remote Access
Port Overview
What is Port 20000?
Used by Webmin, a web-based Linux/Unix system administration interface. Also assigned to DNP3 (Distributed Network Protocol) used in industrial control and SCADA systems. Both uses carry elevated risk if exposed to the public internet.
Security Considerations
Port 20000 (Webmin / DNP3) is classified as high risk. This port is a common target for automated scanning and brute-force attacks. If you must expose it, restrict access to known IP addresses.
Recommendation: Use firewall rules to whitelist trusted IPs. Enable rate limiting and intrusion detection.
