Port Overview
What is Port 3260?
Port 3260 is the standard port for iSCSI (Internet Small Computer System Interface), a protocol that enables block-level storage over IP networks. Storage area networks (SANs) use iSCSI to allow servers to access remote storage devices as if they were local disks. Exposure of this port on public networks poses a critical data loss risk.
Security Considerations
Port 3260 (iSCSI) is classified as critical risk. This port should not be exposed to the public internet. The service transmits data without encryption, making it vulnerable to eavesdropping, credential theft, and man-in-the-middle attacks.
Recommendation: Block this port at the firewall. Use encrypted alternatives (SSH, SFTP, HTTPS) instead.
