UDP — System & Infrastructure
Port Overview
What is Port 3544?
Port 3544 is used by Teredo, a Microsoft tunneling protocol that provides IPv6 connectivity to hosts that are behind IPv4 NAT devices. Teredo encapsulates IPv6 packets within IPv4 UDP datagrams to traverse NAT boundaries. It was commonly used during the IPv4-to-IPv6 transition period.
Security Considerations
Port 3544 (Teredo Tunneling) is classified as medium risk. While this service is commonly exposed, consider using encrypted alternatives where available.
Recommendation: Keep the service updated. Monitor logs for unusual activity.
