Port Overview
What is Port 4848?
Port 4848 is the default administrative console port for Oracle GlassFish Server, a Java EE application server. The web-based administration interface is accessible via HTTPS on this port for deploying applications, configuring resources, and monitoring server health. Exposure of this port to the internet can allow unauthorized administrative access.
Security Considerations
Port 4848 (GlassFish Admin) is classified as high risk. This port is a common target for automated scanning and brute-force attacks. If you must expose it, restrict access to known IP addresses.
Recommendation: Use firewall rules to whitelist trusted IPs. Enable rate limiting and intrusion detection.
