Port Overview
What is Port 50070?
Default HTTP web UI port for Apache Hadoop's HDFS NameNode. Provides access to the file system browser, cluster health, and metadata statistics. Should be protected from public access as it can expose sensitive cluster information.
Security Considerations
Port 50070 (Hadoop NameNode HTTP) is classified as high risk. This port is a common target for automated scanning and brute-force attacks. If you must expose it, restrict access to known IP addresses.
Recommendation: Use firewall rules to whitelist trusted IPs. Enable rate limiting and intrusion detection.
