Port Overview
What is Port 5280?
Port 5280 is used by ejabberd and other XMPP servers for HTTP-based XMPP connections via BOSH (Bidirectional-streams Over Synchronous HTTP) and WebSocket transports. BOSH allows web browsers to connect to XMPP servers without native TCP socket support. This port also serves as the ejabberd web administration interface.
Security Considerations
Port 5280 (XMPP HTTP Binding (BOSH)) is classified as medium risk. While this service is commonly exposed, consider using encrypted alternatives where available.
Recommendation: Keep the service updated. Monitor logs for unusual activity.
