Port Overview
What is Port 5601?
Port 5601 is the default port for Kibana, the visualization and analytics frontend of the Elastic Stack (ELK). Kibana provides dashboards, search interfaces, and data exploration tools for data stored in Elasticsearch. Numerous data breaches have occurred from publicly exposed Kibana instances without authentication.
Security Considerations
Port 5601 (Kibana) is classified as high risk. This port is a common target for automated scanning and brute-force attacks. If you must expose it, restrict access to known IP addresses.
Recommendation: Use firewall rules to whitelist trusted IPs. Enable rate limiting and intrusion detection.
