TCP/UDP — Remote Access
Port Overview
What is Port 5938?
Port 5938 is the primary port used by TeamViewer for remote desktop and remote support connections. TeamViewer uses this port for encrypted communications with its relay servers, with fallback to port 443 and 80 if blocked. TeamViewer connections are proxied through TeamViewer's infrastructure, eliminating the need for inbound port forwarding.
Security Considerations
Port 5938 (TeamViewer) is classified as medium risk. While this service is commonly exposed, consider using encrypted alternatives where available.
Recommendation: Keep the service updated. Monitor logs for unusual activity.
