What is Port 7001?

Port 7001 is used by both Apache Cassandra for TLS-encrypted internode communication and Oracle WebLogic Server for its default HTTP administration port. Cassandra uses this as the secure alternative to port 7000 for encrypted cluster traffic. WebLogic's presence on this port has been the source of multiple critical remote code execution vulnerabilities.

Security Considerations

Port 7001 (Cassandra TLS / WebLogic) is classified as critical risk. This port should not be exposed to the public internet. The service transmits data without encryption, making it vulnerable to eavesdropping, credential theft, and man-in-the-middle attacks.

Recommendation: Block this port at the firewall. Use encrypted alternatives (SSH, SFTP, HTTPS) instead.
