Port Overview
What is Port 7474?
Port 7474 is the default HTTP port for Neo4j, the world's most popular graph database. The Neo4j Browser and REST API are served on this port, allowing users to run Cypher queries and visualize graph data. Publicly exposed Neo4j instances have been responsible for numerous data breach incidents.
Security Considerations
Port 7474 (Neo4j HTTP) is classified as high risk. This port is a common target for automated scanning and brute-force attacks. If you must expose it, restrict access to known IP addresses.
Recommendation: Use firewall rules to whitelist trusted IPs. Enable rate limiting and intrusion detection.
