Port Overview
What is Port 8090?
Port 8090 is the default HTTP port for Atlassian Confluence Server, a widely used team collaboration and wiki platform. The standalone Confluence server (non-Tomcat) listens on this port for web interface access. It is also used by Red Hat Cockpit for server management and various other web applications.
Security Considerations
Port 8090 (Confluence / Cockpit) is classified as high risk. This port is a common target for automated scanning and brute-force attacks. If you must expose it, restrict access to known IP addresses.
Recommendation: Use firewall rules to whitelist trusted IPs. Enable rate limiting and intrusion detection.
