What is Port 8123?
Port 8123 is the default HTTP port for Home Assistant, the most popular open-source home automation platform. Users access Home Assistant's web interface and REST API on this port to control smart home devices, automations, and integrations. Exposing this port to the internet without proper authentication risks complete smart home system compromise.
Security Considerations
Port 8123 (Home Assistant) is classified as high risk. This port is a common target for automated scanning and brute-force attacks. If you must expose it, restrict access to known IP addresses.
