Port Overview
What is Port 8834?
Port 8834 is the default HTTPS port for the Nessus vulnerability scanner web interface and REST API. Security professionals use Nessus to perform network vulnerability assessments and compliance audits. Access to the Nessus interface should be restricted to authorized security personnel only.
Security Considerations
Port 8834 (Nessus) is classified as high risk. This port is a common target for automated scanning and brute-force attacks. If you must expose it, restrict access to known IP addresses.
Recommendation: Use firewall rules to whitelist trusted IPs. Enable rate limiting and intrusion detection.
