Port Overview
What is Port 9150?
Port 9150 is the SOCKS5 proxy port used by the Tor Browser Bundle, as distinct from the standalone Tor client which uses port 9050. The Tor Browser uses a different port to avoid conflicts with a separately running Tor instance. Applications can be configured to use this port to route traffic through the Tor Browser's Tor instance.
Security Considerations
Port 9150 (Tor Browser SOCKS) is classified as medium risk. While this service is commonly exposed, consider using encrypted alternatives where available.
Recommendation: Keep the service updated. Monitor logs for unusual activity.
